Training for Aseptic Filling: groninger hosts seminar in cooperation with PDA

On September 2nd and 3rd, Groninger, in collaboration with PDA, will host a two-day training on aseptic filling at the Crailsheim site. Participants can look forward to a hands-on-program with intensive practical sessions on real filling lines.

How can aseptic processes be made sustainably safe? What does Annex 1 mean for manufacturing and operational staff? And how can regulatory requirements be translated into practical implementation on the production floor?

These and many other questions will be addressed during the two-day seminar "Manage Your Aseptic Filling Line", which will take place on September 2–3, 2025, at groninger’s headquarters in Crailsheim, Germany. Organized in cooperation with the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), the training targets professionals and decision-makers in the pharmaceutical industry.

As host, groninger will not only provide access to its state-of-the-art training and production environment, but also contribute its long-standing expertise in aseptic filling technology.

Empowering participants with practical knowledge and confidence

Aseptic processes are among the most demanding in pharmaceutical manufacturing – both in terms of compliance and technology. That’s why the training is designed to offer not just theoretical insights, but above all, practical, actionable solutions.

“We want participants to leave with concrete approaches to implement and improve aseptic processes in a compliant and robust way,” explains Julian Petersen, Head of Business Development at groninger and one of the seminar speakers. Petersen also serves as President of PDA’s DACH Affiliate.

In addition to expert talks from industry specialists, the focus of the training lies in real-life practice. In small groups, participants will operate on actual filling equipment, simulating everyday scenarios under realistic cleanroom conditions. Central topics include: How do I safely set up an aseptic filling line? What risks need to be considered under Annex 1? What does effective first-air management look like? Which modern barrier technologies are available, and how can they be integrated efficiently?

“The combination of theoretical foundation and practical experience makes this event uniquely valuable – both for newcomers and experienced professionals,” says Petersen. The format has already proven successful in previous years.

As a manufacturer of high-performance filling and closing systems for sterile pharmaceuticals, groninger supports customers worldwide in implementing complex production solutions. “We don’t just build machines,” emphasizes Petersen, “we see ourselves as a solution partner – offering consulting, training, qualification support, and long-term service throughout the entire lifecycle of a line.”
