Project details

In the highly competitive market of pharmaceutical filling and sealing, reliability, precision, maximum flexibility, and local service and support are key success factors. This is precisely why Jubilant HollisterStier (JHS) – a leading international CDMO for sterile injectables and lyophilized products – has decided to enter into a long-term partnership with groninger.

As part of this collaboration, JHS has acquired three state-of-the-art integra large bottle filling systems, which will be used at its Spokane and Montréal sites. In Spokane, the first system has already been commissioned, is currently planning commercial production, and is completing the final validation batches. The second system is on track to manufacture commercial products in early 2026, while the third system will support commercial production in Montréal by the end of 2026.

Each system has processing capacities for components ranging from 2R to 100 ml, for both liquid and lyophilized products. They feature two independent sealing stations, one for the liquid path and one for the lyophilization path. The systems are configured with 100% IPC and groninger's product-maximizing features, including Smartfill, priming on the load cells during the start-up process, and features to minimize waste at the end of a batch. In addition, they feature re-stoppering and vision systems for stopper and crimp quality inspection with a throughput of up to 400 vials per minute. Our partner SKAN supported this aspect of the project for isolator containment, and a leading supplier was brought in for the integration of the Lyos.

The collaboration between Jubilant HollisterStier and groninger was crucial for the implementation of integra, a high-performance filling system that achieves high throughput and is equipped with features to maximize product yield. These systems enable high throughput while complying with the strictest regulatory standards, which are essential for the pharmaceutical industry.
