groninger at Achema 2022

Achema 2022: groninger will be presenting the latest innovations for processing liquids in the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industries at the leading trade fair which will be held in Frankfurt am Main from August 22 – August 26. On more than 360 square meters, interested visitors can get an impression in Hall 3.1 Booth G72.

For this year’s Achema, which takes place in Frankfurt am Main from August 22 – August 26, groninger’s motto is “Your Vision. Our Solution.”

The latest machine generations for liquid processing in the pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare industries will be presented at the leading trade fair.

“Our customers, regardless of which markets they are active in, are facing growing challenges. Whether the constantly increasing safety requirements in pharmaceutical filling or the diversification of products and formats in the consumer healthcare and cosmetics industries. We show options on how to meet these challenges,” says Managing Director, Jens Groninger. For groninger, the customers’ needs are clearly the focus.

Accordingly, the filling machine manufacturer, which produces filling and closing lines for the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare and cosmetics industries at its locations in Crailsheim (Baden-Württemberg), Schnelldorf (Bavaria) and Charlotte (North Carolina, USA), is broad and diverse when it comes to the current Achema event.

Robot-based solutions for the pharmaceutical industry

The greatest risk in the processing of pharmaceutical products is posed by humans. Product impurities and contamination can be traced back to human intervention in over 70 percent of the cases.

This is another reason why groninger has relied on the use of flexible robotic solutions for their lines for many years. The line manufacturer recently went one step further. groninger has developed a machine concept that completely eliminates the human “risk factor” in pharmaceutical processing – the robocell.

Almost all work steps previously carried out by the operating personnel are replaced by specially manufactured robots. There are no more glove ports. Human interventions in the core processes of the pharmaceutical filling process are a thing of the past.

Conveyor belts or conventional drives are also no longer installed. Cleaning them be difficult and the risk of possible product contamination is correspondingly increased. The transport of optionally pre-sterilized syringes, vials or cartridges is taken over by robots instead.

Dirk Schuster is convinced that this high-tech line sets new standards in pharmaceutical processing and will be one of the highlights of this year’s Achema. “We closely reviewed the regulatory requirements of the industry,” explains the Head of Sales in the pharmaceutical sector. “The required process know-how is shifting – away from the operating personnel and towards the system or the robots used. The result, on the one hand, is a significantly higher overall process reliability of the systems; on the other hand, a reduced reject rate.”

Flexibility in consumer healthcare

groninger will also show innovative solutions in the consumer healthcare sector that are geared to the needs of the industry. A flexcare 10 will be exhibited, which allows for the processing of OTC products, diagnostics and dietary supplements.

“This machine concept was developed with a view to maximize flexibility and reliable processes,” emphasizes Otto Helmle, Head of Sales in the consumer healthcare and cosmetics sectors. “The high level of flexibility and availability is ensured through the quick and tool-free change of format parts. This allows our customers to process a wide range of products on one line and with little downtime.” All parts of the line are easily accessible and can be cleaned without any problems. This is a real added value for our customers.

In addition to these lines, other solutions from the groninger portfolio will be presented. “For more than 40 years we have been offering our customers integrated process and machine solutions from a single source, throughout the entire life cycle of the line,” says Managing Director, Jens Groninger. The fact that groninger still lives up to this claim today and is constantly evolving will be demonstrated by the line manufacturer in 2022 - “for example at the Achema,” says Jens Groninger.
